Digital Photography 1 Survey

Why did I take Digital Photo 1? I took this class because I wanted to learn more about photography and get better at it.

What were three things you enjoyed learning so far in Digital Photography 1?
1. Learning about shadows
2. Motion pictures: blurry and sharp
3. I really enjoyed the Capture films that we watched!

What has been my favorite project so far? Was the one where we had to take 5 photos of ourselves or someone else and put all of the photos together to make it look like one photo.

What was your least favorite project so far? Was the project where we had to find objects that look like a letter and then spell out a word.

Are you interested in taking Digital Photo 2? Yes, I am.

Do you feel like your skills have improved through the semester? Yes, I feel like they have.

If you could re-do one project which would it be and why? I would re-do the levitation project because I feel like you could do something really cool with it but I didn't really put a lot of thought into it, so I feel like I could do better.

Was Ms. Baron a professional, helpful, and knowledgeable teacher? Yes, she was.

Is there a project/skill that you would like to learn next semester? Maybe just more practice in photoshop.

Architecture Photos

1) Tilting the camera up and down.
2) Everything must be placed very deliberately or the flaws of the room become more obvious.
3 Waiting for the right light to take a photo, When you can control the light, your'e able to convey emotion and feel, add emphasis or interest to select areas in the photo, add life, bring out color and detail, improve contrast, and so much more. Be patient.

Dennis Gilbert: I picked this photo because I like all the different shapes that you see from this one angle.

 

Eddy Joaquim: I picked this photo because I liked how all of Eddy Joaquim's photos are close up architecture pictures and it is just a cool image in general.

Moby: I picked this photo and photographer because all of his photos are black and white which is cool and I really love how this picture looks like it is from a long time ago and I like the architecture of the buildings.

Movement Pictures

1) I liked Platons photographs more.
2) He takes pictures in Africa. It is so fantastic to photograph because everyone is so happy there and everywhere you look there is something to take a picture of.
3)  He views himself as a story teller because when he takes photos he wants to tell a story with it.
4) I think they mean that everyone thinks that they need to document their everyday actions with their phones, but when people are always on them, they could miss cool events or things because they are on their phone. I do agree with them.
5) I really like the photo of the musician with the torture marks on his back with him holding his guitar, I thought that was really cool.

What I learned from this article about motion pictures, is that there is several ways to express motion in photos. You can adjust a photo by slowing down or speeding up the shutter speed. In photos, you can freeze nearly all activities, including those that happen too quickly to be perceived by the human eye. My favorite type of motion photography is when the photographer allows the photo to become blurred, I really like how the photos turn out and they look really cool.

My morph animal is called a Dunny because I mixed a bunny and a duck together.

2) Yes, because I think her experience behind the camera aloud her to know what it is like for the person she is taking pictures of.
3) Back then camera companies seemed to be more personal but not people do not really care what camera you used to take the photo, they just care about the photo.
4) The picture that Mary Ellen Mark took of a young girl with no hair in a prom dress was one of my favorites.

1) Yes, I agree because musicians are usually playing on stage and there is action in the photo where as an actor the person is just standing there doing nothing.
2) I liked both of the photographers work but I think I liked Bob Gruens work more because I thought they looked more professional.
3) The photo of the female singer with the strobe light behind and the photo captured like 5 different images in one.
4) I think he did that to show the difference in the times that he took the photos. When he took the Clash photo it was in black and white but when he took Green Days photo it was in color, so mayeb just to show the different color of the same but at the same time different picture.

All About Me Project

This is my All About Me Project, and I picked these images because they all describe a little bit about me. The cross is because I am a Christian, the family picture is because family is really important to me and my family and I are really close, I picked the elephant picture because I really love elephants and I want to ride one, one day. The Cold Stone logo is on there because I work there, I also have a sunflower because I they are my favorite flower and I think they are so pretty. Next, I have a camera because my dream job would to be a photographer for National Geographic, I put the Mumford & Sons album cover on this because they are one of my favorite bands, I have a hand holding a pencil because I also love to draw and make things look real on paper. Lastly, I have a football, basketball, and a hockey puck. I put the football on this project because football is really important to my family and I really love the sport, a basketball because I have played the sport for a while now and last year I injured myself during a game and had to have surgery, which took me out the rest of the year, and finally a hockey puck because I love watching hockey and last year I went to the Stanley Cup Parade.

1) I am for watermarks on images because if you do not put a watermark on your photo then anyone could steal it and take credit for your hard work.

2) If someone stole my photo and took credit for it, I probably be pretty mad. Depending on how many people see it and if that person is making money on my photo, I might take that person to court so that they cannot take credit for my photo anymore.

This was Niki's multiple person photo. I really like the room she is in, it looks like an abandoned house or something which is really cool. And I like the different positions she is in like sitting an standing differently.

I picked the topic of abortion because I am totally against abortion and feel that every life has purpose and should not be taken away.

PSD:which stands for Photoshop Document, is the default format that Photoshop uses for saving data.
White Balance: the color balance on a digital camera.
Histogram: a diagram consisting of rectangles whose area is proportional to the frequency of a variable and whose width is equal to the class interval.
Aperture:a space through which light passes in an optical or photographic instrument, especially the variable opening by which light enters a camera.
Shutter Speed:the time for which a shutter is open at a given setting.
Depth of Field:the distance between the nearest and the furthest objects that give an image judged to be in focus in a camera.
Bitmap:a representation in which each item corresponds to one or more bits of information, especially the information used to control the display of a computer screen.
Exposure:the state of being exposed to contact with something.
Watermarking:mark with a watermark.
Optical Zoom:is a true zoom feature. It allows you to zoom in (or out) on the subject in the LCD or viewfinder. 
Digital Zoom: is a software feature that uses one of two methods: One type of digital zoom simply "crops" the edges of the image.
Light Meter:an instrument for measuring the intensity of light, used chiefly to show the correct exposure when taking a photograph.
Image Stablelizing: is a family of techniques used to reduce blurring associated with the motion of a camera or other imaging device during exposure.
Noise:a sound, especially one that is loud or unpleasant or that causes disturbance.
Lag Time:period of time between two closely related events.
Hot shoe:a socket on a camera with direct electrical contacts for an attached flashgun or other accessory.
Fisheye:a wide-angle lens with a field of vision covering up to 180°, the scale being reduced toward the edges
Macro:relating to or used in macrophotography
Telephoto:a lens with a longer focal length than standard, giving a narrow field of view and a magnified image
Wide Angle:(of a lens) having a short focal length and hence a field covering a wide angle
DSLR:  is a digital camera combining the optics and the mechanisms of a single-lens reflex camera with a digital imaging sensor, as opposed to photographic film.

This photo is important because it represents the United States winning the war at Iwo Jima. It also represents the hardships that the Marines had and what they sacrificed for our country. When I see this photo I think of freedom and how great our country is and how thankful I am for the men that served and serve our country.

This photo is important because it was the first photo taken of the earth that gave us the ability to know what the earth looks like. This photo changed our thoughts on how the earth looked and its placement in space. I would say that this is a pretty important picture and a big moment for the people on earth to be able to see what our planet looks like from outer space. This photo gave people to ability to know what our planet looks like.

 This photo is important because it shows the hard times that black people had during this time and the struggle they had to go through. Even though this black girl is a free person and no longer considered a slave, she is still being treated unequally. This photo makes you feel sad for her, but also disgust for the white girls that are making fun of her. This was an important time for our country because the slaves had just been set equal to white people and so it still wasn't easy for black people to live their everyday lives.
